What this is
A neighbourhood library. Members lend each other books they own. The site only keeps the record: who offers what, who asked, who agreed, and who holds a book right now.
The books are your own
Your books stay your responsibility. This site is not a party to a loan, does not guarantee a book comes back, and takes no responsibility whatsoever for the books themselves — for loss, damage, theft, delay, or the state a book comes back in. Lending is at the owner's own risk. If something happens, settle it between you. Librarians can help; they do not rule and they do not compensate.
Between neighbours
Every loan is a direct agreement between two members. The site only records what was agreed.
No money
No fees, no deposits, no fines. Asking for payment for a loan breaks these terms.
What we keep
Your email, a display name, a rough area (about 300 m) that other members see, the meeting place you write yourself — if that is your address, then that is what is stored — the books you list, and the messages on each loan. A meeting place is shown only to the other side of a loan, and only once you have both agreed a time. Messages are deleted 90 days after a loan closes. You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time; past loans are kept without your name.
Cookies
Cookies, all of them ours: what signs you in, and small preferences such as the language you read in. No tracking, no analytics, no advertising, nothing belonging to anybody else — which is why there is nothing here to accept or refuse. On pages with a map, the map tiles come from OpenStreetMap, so their server sees that you asked for them.
Conduct
Be fair and be kind. Librarians can suspend an account.
Changes
These terms may change before the library opens to more communities. A material change goes out by email.
